What’s on…January in Dublin
Beat the winter blues with a January full of events!
Waking up again from her Christmas holiday, Dublin city picks up quickly with events for everyone. January begins with Dundrum on Ice, where there are 450 square metres of real ice on Pembroke Square in Dundrum Town Centre, for the entertainment of every skater, proceed with a festival such as the Temple bar trad fest and finish with the celebrations for the Chinese New year.
Even in wintertime Dublin never sleeps!
But let’s go step by step:
Dundrum On Ice will be open every day from 3 pm to 7 pm from Monday to Friday and from 10 am to 7 pm on Saturday and Sunday. Ready to skate and enjoy winter sports?
6th January – 9th January
Bt Young scientist exhibition
Running since 1965, this annual exhibition of science projects has become an important fixture in the calendar, covering all aspects and fields of science. With over 500 projects on display, in categories which include Chemical, Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Biological and Ecological Sciences, Social and Behavioural Sciences and Technology there is something to catch the interest of everyone.
22nd January – 26th January
Temple Bar Trad fest
This celebration of traditional music and culture began in 2006 and takes place in pubs and theatres and on the street in the Temple Bar area of Dublin. During the five days of the festival hundreds of musicians will play in these sessions and admission to almost all of them is free. It really is a feast of entertainment for anyone with even a passing interest in traditional music. As well as the music sessions there are family events, free street entertainment and a festival club in the Project Arts Centre.
And don’t forget the many gigs you’ll find in the city…even after Christmas time, here in Dublin there’s something in the air…
