St Valentine’s Special: fall in love with Ireland!
The most romantic day of the year is approaching: St Valentine’s! Both in Dublin and around Ireland you can find thousands of places to spend the day with your special friend, your partner or that person you want to woo.
Did you know that the Carmelite church on Whitefriar Street is the home of Saint Valentine’s relics ?
Many lovers take the opportunity to visit the saint and light a candle on 14th February. St.Valentine’s shrine is visited throughout the year by couples who go to pray and ask him to watch over them in their lives together.
Do you want to show your love the Irish way?
If you want to give a ring as a symbol of love, courtship or marriage, the quintessential Irish gem is the Claddagh ring. The design of the ring is formed by folded hands -a heart and a crown- representing friendship, love and loyalty. But the meaning depends on the way you wear it:
- Right hand, heart out: seeking love / single
- Right hand, heart inward: you’re in love
- Left hand, heart out: you’re committed
- Left hand, heart inward: married / eternal love
For St.Valentine’s Day or any time of the year, remember that our school offers fantastic trips around Ireland to learn English while you visit fantastic places. Have you ever thought how much fun it would be to learn English with your partner on a trip to Ireland? It sounds good, doesn’t it?
