What’s on…February in Dublin
In February there are plenty of different events to suit every taste. Stay in touch with Travelling Languages!
DIFF
Established in 2003, The Dublin International Film Festival (DIFF) has become Ireland’s premier feature film festival. The 2016 festival will be in town from 18th – 28th Feb. DIFF will show over 150 films from all over the world to Irish audiences. The festival will take place in many of the city centre’s cinemas and other venues. The aim of the event is to promote Irish movies and present them to the audience: the most of movies will be premieres, and for some of the films shown, the festival represents the only public screening that will take place in Ireland. At the same time the festival has developed a forum of exchange between public and the filmmakers, in order to create a real interaction between authors and spectators. Over the years almost 1500 movies (Irish and international) have been shown to the audience and celebrities such as Daniel Day Lewis, Glenn Close, the U2 and Richard Dreyfuss have been hosted by the festival.
ALLTECH CRAFT BREWS AND FOOD FAIR
The Alltech International craft brews and food fair will take place at the Convention centre from the 5th to the 7th of February. It’s going to be a great opportunity to get to know some of the best Irish food producers and craft breweries. Food experts will help the visitors to discover and learn more about food culture and about the world of craft beers. There will also be plenty of opportunities to try a wide variety of drinks and food that take your fancy. The entertainment will also include the broadcast of the Rugby Six Nations championship on giant screens throughout the festival.
CHINESE NEW YEAR
From the 6th to the 21st of February, Dublin will celebrate the Chinese New Year with an incredible festival that will take place all over the city. The year of the monkey marks the 9th year of this internationally recognised festival that connects Irish and Chinese culture. With lectures, workshops, concerts and much more you will have the chance to see Chinese traditions in an original and unexpected way.
So, we’re just waiting for you…
